Bashley Rydal’s teenage Turner twins, James and Alex, both hit half-centuries in the promotion boosting 30-run win over Southern Premier League Division 3 counterparts South Wilts at the BCG.
Opener Alex (left) hit 51 and shared a 57-run fourth-wicket partnership with James, who top scored with 64 as Bashley totalled 248-8 (Chris Vaughan 31).
Joe Cranch (39) and Adam Prescott (33) eased South Wilts into a strong position at 112-2, but the pair were dismissed in quick succession, the visitors finishing up 30 runs adrift at 218-8.
Lymington II remain bottom of the table, 20 points off safety, despite a Ross Whyte inspired two-wicket win at third-placed Hambledon.
Whyte, one of six Isle of Wight based players in the Lymington line-up, hit an unbeaten 68 as Hambledon’s 175 (Henry Glanfield 44) was chased down with 16 balls to spare.
Whyte, whose father Mark kept wicket for Ventnor for decades, hit eight fours in his match winning knock.
Portsmouth & Southsea seamer Rob Wigley could hardly believe it after taking a career-best seven wickets for only nine runs against Gosport Borough – and yet still finish on the losing side !
He took all seven remaining wickets as Gosport crashed from 55-3 to 99 all out (Tom Larner 29), a meagre total the Borough somehow managed to defend.
Craig Stares (4-41) and teenage pair Jack Richards (3-11) and Jacob Harris (2-16) quickly turned the tables on P & S, who were 48-7 (Ollie Kanavan 24) before finishing with 81 all out.
