Ben Johns, Calmore Sports’ young left-hand opener, could finish the second highest run scorer in the Southern Premier League Cup.
His match sealing 50 in the six-wicket win over Andover at Loperwood Park took his tally for the seven-match competition to 320, a total only bettered by Hampshire Academy prospect Tom Prest.
Johns began the league cup with an unbeaten 115 against Lymington and followed it up with half-centuries off the South Wilts and Totton & Eling attacks before Andover came along.
He hit two sixes and four boundaries in his unbeaten 50 as Calmore cruised past Andover’s 94 (Alex Ayers 29) with four overs to spare. South African Yannick de Mezieres (3-20) and Ben Perry (3-10) shared six of the wickets.
