Fourteen year old Ben Attrill produced an astonishing bowling performance when he took SEVEN wickets for just FOUR runs in a Hampshire League match for Ventnor.
Playing for Ventnor thirds in Regional Division 4 South East, young Ben did the bulk of the damage as opponents Knowle Village were skittled for 31 in only 16 overs.
Ben clean bowled four Knowle batsmen, had two more caught behind and trapped another leg before wicket.
“The sad thing was that I had to take him off as, due to his age, he can only bowl six overs at a time,” said Ventnor skipper Alistair Cotton.
“Had he been able to continue, he might well have got all ten !”
There was no need for Ben to strap on his pads and bat as Ventnor quickly polished off the meagre target to win by nine wickets.
Ventnor top Regional 4 South East after winning their first five games.
