Local cricket has been saddened by the sudden death of lifelong Hampshire enthusiast and supporter and Saints season ticket holder Bobby Elliott, who was found dead at his home in Chandler's Ford.
Bobby played cricket for Southampton Touring Club and more recently IBM Hursley, where he worked as a draughtsman for many years.
He recently produced two superb books on Hampshire cricket grounds - Changing Rooms 1 illustrating all the grounds on which the county teams had played - and earlier this year Changing Rooms 2, which provides a social history and photograph of every single club pavilion in the Southern Premier and Hampshire League, over 350 of them !
Bobby seldom missed a match at the Ageas Bowl, where he was a keen autograph hunter and known to all the players and numerous fellow supporters.
In a foreword to his latest book, Tim Tremlett said: "Bobby Elliott loves his sport but cricket holds a special place and his book captures the imagination of cricketers, scorers, spectators and umpires who have spent time at one or more of the incredible number of grounds he has visited across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight."
