BOURNEMOUTH have signed promising Tasmanian left-hand all-rounder Tom Willoughby as their overseas player for the 2022 ECB Southern Premier League season, which they launch against Hook & Newnham Basics at Chapel Gate on May 7.
The 19-year old, who represented the island in Cricket Australia's prestigious Youth State Championships, plays for South Hobart Sandy Bay in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League and made a season's best score of 70 last weekend. He has also taken 25 wickets with his left-arm spin.
It will be Willoughby's second summer in the UK, the left-hander having enjoyed a successful 2021 season helping Sleaford finish fourth in the ECB Lincolnshire Premier League, His 626 league runs included a career-best 159* against Louth in August. He also bagged 26 wickets.
Willoughby's arrival will give skipper Chris Park the potential of fielding three genuine left-arm spin bowlers, with the Tasmanian certain to partner Robbie Pack and the emerging Conor Smith.
