Where has Bashley Rydal left-armer Bradley Currie been since wrecking South Wilts’ with a 5-20 return on the opening day of the ECB Southern Premier League season back on May 1 ?
Sidelined with a hamstring injury, ironically sustained in the warm-up for a Sussex Second XI match at Hove in which England quick Jofra Archer was due to play, and, since then, playing north of the border for the Edinburgh-based Eastern Knights in Scotland’s Regional Pro-50 Championships.
With Scottish parentage, Currie has hopes of burgling a place in Scotland’s squad for upcoming international matches. He is pencilled in to rejoin his Bashley team-mates at Alton tomorrow.
Either flying or taking a long and lonely eight-hour drive to Edinburgh from his Poole home, Currie has made three appearances for the Knights, taking 3-16 against Glasgow’s Western Warriors, but was wicketless in the other two games against Scotland’s Performance Academy (in which his side ran amok scoring 418-6) and Caledonian Highlanders.
Currie’s team were victorious in all three matches and will play the Western Warriors in next Saturday’s Pro-50 final at Titwood.
The Bashley leftie played in Durham’s thumping Second XI Championship victory over Kent in midweek, but his solitary one-wicket haul was over-shadowed by Steep and Liphook & Ripsley raised fellow left-arm seamer Jack Campbell, who boasted figures of 5-20 and 3-39. Durham won by 269 runs.
