Waterlooville and south-east Hants cricket is mourning the death, after a short illness, of Brian Ravenhall, who had been associated with the Rowlands Avenue club for over four decades, originally as a player and, after his retirement, an umpire, scorer, barman and overall hugely loyal clubman.
Brian kept wicket for Waterlooville's second and third teams and latterly umpired and scored in Hampshire League matches. In the winter months, he umpired regularly in the South East Hants Indoor Cricket League, who observed a minute's silence in his memory last weekend.
A retired accountant, he was a loyal supporter of Hampshire cricket, following the county home and away. He had a stint as treasurer of the Hampshire Cricket Society, alongside supporting Coventry City.
Brian's funeral will take place at The Oaks Havant Crematorium, Bartons Road, Havant PO9 5NA, on Monday 12 February at 11.30am. Family flowers only, but donations can be made to Naomi House Hospice via the funeral directors - Searsons, 18 Park Parade, Leigh Park, Havant PO9 5AD.
Afterwards there will be a wake at Waterlooville Cricket Club, Rowlands Avenue PO7 7RT.
