Bournemouth and Team Solent are paired together in a six-team group in the British Universities Championships, with the two local sides going head-to-head in the penultimate round of fixtures at Totton & Eling’s Southern Gardens on Wednesday May 18.
The Premier South group in which they play is the feeder competition into the main BUCS national league which includes the likes of Cambridge, Durham, Leeds & Bradford, and Loughborough.
Ironically, the first matches Bournemouth and Solent will play are against Welsh opposition, with Cardiff visiting Chapel Gate on April 20, the same day as Solent host Cardiff Met at Totton, where they will play all their home games..
The other universities in Premier South are Oxford and Surrey.
Southampton and Winchester line up in West Tier 1A, alongside Swansea and the second teams of Exeter, Cardiff and Cardiff Met.
Portsmouth, whose home games are at St Helen’s, Southsea, are in South East Tier 1A with Brighton, Canterbury, Chichester, Hertfordshire and Reading.
