Burridge crashed out of the ECB national indoor sixes championship when Broadstairs, last winter’s beaten Lord’s finalists, thrashed them by six wickets in the south-east regional semi-finals at Canterbury. They were skittled for 82 and beaten in just eight overs by the Kent League side, who went on to qualify for a second consecutive Lord’s trip by subsequently beating Old Brentwoods. Burridge never recovered after losing opening pair Dan Hewitt (pictured being bowled) and Richard Kenway with only four runs on the board. Marcus Campopiano hit a valiant 46, but the eventual Burridge total of 72 was easy pickings for Broadstairs, who cruised home with Andrew Bailey (26) and Elliott Fox (21) completing the formalities. Parley play their weather delayed south-west regional semi-final tie against Exeter University at Taunton on Saturday and, if successful, will play either Swindon or Truro for a place at Lord’s. |
