A place in the Voneus Village Cup semi-finals - and one win from Lord's - is the glittering prize for victory on offer to Calmore Sports, if they can beat Gloucestershire's Rockhampton in tomorrow's (Sunday) last eight tie at Loperwood Park, 1pm.
Their opponents, who lie second in the WEPL Gloucestershire Division, won through to the quarter-finals by virtue of a bowl-out, while Calmore's route to the last eight has been a thrilling roller coaster ride, with a series of nail biting wins over Paultons, Sparsholt, Cookham Dean and Goatacre, whom they beat by losing fewer wickets in a tied sixth round nerve jangler.
Calmore boosted their confidence for the quarter-final with a six-wicket win at Portsmouth in which Shaun Johnson and Ben Johns hit fifties. Rockhampton enjoyed an easy ten-wicket win over Stroud-based Painswick.
Calmore Sports: Lavelle, Bailey, Johns, Brewster, Taylor, Johnson, Manning, Perry, West, Wright, Lepervanche.
South Coast Panel duo Shaun Lilley and Nik Lewis will officiate.
* There is ample room (and shade) for spectators at Loperwood Park, where the licensed bar will be open throughout the match and hot food available. Spectators are advised to bring their own fold-up chairs and factor 30 !!
