The outcome of Calmore Sports’ weekend league and cup fixtures could be a short-term indicator for the season ahead.
They face Rowledge in the lead Southern Premier Division 1 match at Loperwood Park tomorrow (1230) and on Sunday travel to Sarisbury Athletic for a rescheduled Voneus Village Cup county semi-final tie (1300).
Calmore and Rowledge boast two victories in the SPL1 win table – the pair each having beaten Portsmouth, wounded after three straight defeats.
Ben Fisher returns for Calmore after his tidy spell of 2-10 in four overs helped Oxford to a handsome nine-wicket victory over Cambridge in the recent Varsity T20. Jovian Dhariwal (24) top scored for the Light Blues.
Calmore Sports: Lavelle, Brewster, Bailey, Johns, Johnson, Moss, Perry, Fisher, West, Manning, Wright.
Rowledge: B Wish, J Wish, Yates, Lloyd, Baker, O Ryman, Littlewood, Sebborn, E Martin, Le Reux, H Watson
Hampshire’s Lewis McManus [pictured] is pencilled in to play for Andover, who beat Portsmouth last time out, while hosts New Milton are unchanged and at full strength.

Sarisbury Athletic: Rawlins, Smith, Lovett, J Hill, Franklin, Wright, Sanders, Orr, S Hill, Kitcher, Jewell.
Portsmouth have fared even worse, losing all three SPL1 games ahead of the visit to Basingstoke & North Hants, whose last three games have been rained off.
Old Tauntonians & Romsey garnered 39 points from early season wins over Liphook & Ripsley and Fawley, but will run into West Indian Anthony Alleyne when Ventnor visit the Romsey Sports Centre.
Alleyne played a decisive role in Ventnor’s win over Bashley (Rydal) II last week and will clearly be a major influence on the island club’s prospects.
Without a match since they won at Steephill on May 1, Fair Oak go to Paultons who, Josh Metcalfe apart, field their strongest available side, with teenage batsman Ben Rogers over the earache he suffered while scoring an SPL best 82 at South Wilts last week.
Paultons: Simon Ennew, Cameron Grierson, Ben Rogers, Lee Wateridge, Robert Pike, Nathan Feltham, Tony Richman, Pete Lamb, Harmon Chadhoke, Archie Dunn, Andrew Denney
Neil Taylor remains four short of his magical 1,000 competitive wicket haul but should get eight overs under his belt when Bashley (Rydal) II visit Waterlooville.
Waterlooville: Archie Reynolds, Alex Shephard, Namish Verma, Sonny Reynolds, Jon Hudson, Dan Birch, Tim Jackson, Sam Robinson, Ashan Silva, Harry McBride, Finn Rockett
Bashley (Rydal) II: Read, R Taylor, Francis, Morris, G Wilson, Underwood, Achakzai, Mulley, Baker, Crisp, N Taylor.
In the other games, Hartley Wintney receive Fawley and South Wilts II go to Liphook & Ripsley, who face an awkward Village Cup tie in Pulborough on Sunday against a West Chiltington & Thakenham side that has already beaten Chichester Priory Park and Findon in cup ties this season.
Gosport Borough hope former St Lucia U19 batsman Denzel James can fire their run scoring ambitions against Hythe & Dibden, who were rolled out for 58 by Hook & Newnham Basics II last week.
Gosport Borough: Harrop, O Creal, James, Harris, Toogood, Richards, Pennicott, Taylor, C Creal, Patermotte, S Creal.
Promoted Hook are top after two wins and look for a third when Tichborne Park visit the KGV, but Ben Allnutt (shoulder) is injured. Jordan Hobday should be an adequate replacement.
Hook & Newnham Basics II: Light, Bruin, Warner, Balcombe, O May, Shore, Gardner, T May, Watts, Moore, Hobday.
Portsmouth & Southsea have played on 12 overs of cricket in May – that was before their game with Tichborne Park on May 15 was called off – but should get going against Trojans at Stoneham Lane.
