Defending champions Havant were shot out for 88 on a wet Green Jackets Ground surface and then put to the sword by Tom Foyle, who led St Cross Symondians to a crushing eight-wicket victory.
Havant skipper Chris Stone sighed: “It was a terrible toss to lose. Scoring runs was very difficult even against poor deliveries, but (the pitch) started getting easier after an hour and a half and continued improving.
“They caught very well and Tom Foyle batted well with his usual aggressive approach.”
Steve Mitchell (4-27) and Harry Foyle (3-26) did the damage as Havant plunged to 41-6 when Richard Hindley (17) departed.
Jez Bulled (17) and Chris Morgan (18) halted the slide, but once they were parted Havant’s last three wickets fell for nine and they were 88 all out.
Tom Foyle was in no mood to get bogged down and smashed everything either pitched up or dropped short.
He hit two sixes and 11 fours in his unbeaten 74 off 55 balls, which saw St Cross Symondians to their first win of the summer, victory being achieved off 16.2 overs.
