Champions St Cross Symondians suffered their first defeat - the experience of Richard Hindley and South African seam bowler Siviwe Gidana proving crucial as Havant chalked up their first ECB Southern Premier Division win by a six-wicket margin.
Needing ten runs off the final over, Gidana hit the winning boundary off Harry Foyle’s penultimate ball as Havant successfully chased down 239-7, Hampshire prospect Harry Came making 113 and Billy Mead 32
Mindful of the previous week's batting collapse against Lymington, Havant began their reply in determined if guarded fashion. When both openers departed, leaving them 57-2, much depended on Pete Hopson (48) and Hindley, who went on to make a decisive 89 not out.
When Hopson was out, Havant still had much to do but second team stalwart Andrew Galliers (42) used his experience with a quick-fire innings at over a run a ball, which maintained the momentum and helped set up the winning finish. Galliers' added a crucial 90 with Hindley, pictured above.
