Joe Eckland (right) and Charlie Mumford (left) hit maiden county centuries as Hampshire's youngsters racked up a monster 519-7 on day two of their ECB Under-18 County Championship match to set up an eventual innings and 228-run victory over Oxfordshire at Totton & Eling's Southern Gardens.
Eckland hit 147 and Mumford 127, the pair each hitting a six and 22 fours and sharing a 246-run third-wicket partnership. Alton all-rounder Jude Wright hit 47 before Canford left-hander James Barker plundered 91, with four sixes and ten fours. Bashley's Louis Prichard made 26 not out.
Oxford were dismissed for 130 in their first innings - Harry Petrie (4-18) and Hook & Newnham Basics' paceman Max Simpson (3-32) did the damage - and were 50-4 at stumps, facing a massive defeat.
Rain hampered Hampshire's progress on day 3, with Oxfordshire lunching at 70-5. They were still battling on at 141-7 at tea, but were eventually bowled out for 161, with Barker's left-arm spin bringing rewards of 5-35.
Wiltshire beat the Isle of Wight by two wickets in an ECB U18 Cup thriller at South Wilts, chasing down a Vectis total of 192-8 to win by two wickets with two balls to spare, Crofton Keyes hitting a late six to win the match. Earlier, Kamran Dhaliwal (63), Ali Wheble (55) and Tommy Cheater (48) made runs for the IOW.
