Fair Oak spin all-rounder Charlie Gwynn is the stand-out player in the Southern Premier League Division 2 Team of the Season announced today. The left-hander scored 386 runs and took 33 wickets with his left-arm spin – so it’s no surprise he’s being tipped to skipper the Oaks in 2020. South African Jason Knibbs and skipper Will Kerr took advantage of Hartley Wintney’s compact playing area on the Cricket Green to finish as leading SPL3 run scorers, while Dave Orchard was top divisional wicket taker, with 42 victims, for the second consecutive season. To qualify for ‘selection’ players had to have appeared in ten matches, with teams based on three seam bowlers and at least two spinners. Premier Division 2 Team of the Year – Jason Knibbs (Hartley Wintney): 550 runs + 17 wickets + Will Kerr (Hartley Wintney): 494 runs + 16 dismissals James Taylor (Totton & Eling): 443 runs + 10 wickets Suman Ganguly (Liphook & Ripsley): 422 runs + 19 wickets George Condon (Paultons): 457 runs Charlie Gwynn (Fair Oak): 386 runs + 33 wickets Steve Harris (Langley Manor): 473 runs Dave Orchard (St Cross Symondians II): 42 wickets Keith Harris (Basingstoke & North Hants II): 32 wickets Chris Chandler (Basingstoke & North Hants II): 30 wickets Charles Janczur (Liphook & Ripsley) : 27 wickets.
