Charlie Gwynn hit an unbeaten 74 and featured in two key partnerships as Fair Oak beat Havant II by six wickets to secure a potential top half Southern Premier League Division 3 finish.
He hit ten boundaries in his match winning knock which began with Oaks in early trouble at 24-2 chasing down Havant’s 165-6 (Pete Hopson 39).
Gwynn, above, shared stands with Ed Kemp (41) and Greig Stewart (33) as Oaks cruised to a comfortable win.
But Fair Oak’s season is set for an exciting finale as relegation threatened Alton II, last year’s Hampshire League County Division 1 winners, must beat Gwynn’s team at the Jubilee Ground to stand a chance of staying up.
They currently trail Fawley by 12 points, but if Alton beat Oaks and Fawley lose to Gosport Borough, they the calculators will be working overtime.
Alton edged a crucial two-wicket win over Purbrook (117), with their hosts sending down 37 extras.
Freddie Egleston (4-17), Lee Partnr (3-27) and Stephen Ball (3-29) got the wickets for Alton, while Brad Mengham (25) top scored for Purbrook.
