Chris Wood is set to swap playing in front of an 18,000 crowd at Lord’s on Thursday night for an Old Tauntonians & Romsey Southern Electric twenty20 Cup assignment against Hampshire’s Academy starlets at the Romsey Sports Centre on Sunday, 2pm.
Wood helped Hampshire to victory that night but was less successful against Sussex when the NatWest t20 Blast came to the Ageas Bowl yesterday.
But Wood is ‘up for it’ on Sunday afternoon.
“It will be very competitive. They will want to get me out cheaply and vice-versa, so I’ll be giving it everything,” he laughed.
Although he has yet to reveal his hand, Academy manager Bobby Parks is understood to be fielding a strong fledgling side, captained by Brad Taylor.
Another juicy tie takes place at Allotment Road, where frequent semi-finalists Sarisbury Athletic face 2014 Plate winners New Milton (3pm start).
Sarisbury Athletic: Journeaux, Rawlins, Burl, Geyle, Akram, Banks, Lovett, Norris, Floyd, Ingram, Jewell.Paultons look to pull off a surprise when they go to Hook & Newnham Basics at the KGV.
Paultons: Robinson, Feltham Hall O'Brien Collins Linge Murrell Pike Lamb Denney
