Local cricket has been saddened by news of the recent death of the ever smiling and ever popular Cleighton Rudder (aged 77), a prominent left-hand all-rounder, who played alongside elder brother Stan for HM Dockyard club EEM upon their respective arrivals from Barbados in the 1950s. Cleighton moved on to play a full part in Hampshire League County Division 1 cricket with Cormorants (later merged with the Civil Service and United Services clubs) and in midweek with Havant Wednesday. The celebration of Cleighton's life is at Portchester Crematorium on Friday 31 March at 2.30pm and afterwards at the Buckland Community Centre in Portsmouth.
