BASINGSTOKE and North Hants start their British Gas Southern Premier League Division One campaign against Ventnor at May’s Bounty (1pm) with only one thing on their mind – and that’s promotion into the Premier Division.
Mitch Stokes will once again lead the side, alongside big summer signing former Hampshire and Kent seam bowler David Griffiths, who is the club's new player/coach.
Griffiths started his career with Shanklin and his league debut for the Bountymen will add some spice to Ventnor’s presence.
Also returned to the Basingstoke fold is all rounder Scott Dyer and both will add some more depth to the middle order.
Will Phillips who is back from Durham University for a full campaign and will bolster the top order.
Looking ahead to the campaign Stokes said: "We have added some players and I think we look very strong across all the top three teams. We want to get promoted and that is all that is on our mind. "
