Easton & Martyr Worthy’s prospects of causing a Village Cup exit were firmly dashed by an unbeaten Ryan Covey century which swept county champions Liphook & Ripsley into the national phase of the competition, which is climaxed by a Lord’s final.
Ben Stanbrook (56) and Jon Ames (33) helped Easton reach 166-8, but with only ten men they were unable to stem the run flow from Covey’s broad bat.
The former Sarisbury Athletic all-rounder, who is in a rich vein of form, hit 14 boundaries in his 104 not out and shared a century stand with Harry Munt (37) as Liphook romped to an eight-wicket win with 13 overs to spare.
Bedhampton were humiliated and shot out for a dismal 54 and crushed by 121 runs by visiting Findon, but Rowledge piled up a massive 301-8 at Frensham, where Ricky Yates (82) and Sam Plater (67) shared a 141-run second-wicket partnership.
Sam Moseley (31) and Sam Marshall (27) eased Rowledge past the 300-mark before Frensham were dismissed for 220, Sam Plater taking 3-40.
County Division 1 side Shrewton claimed the Wiltshire county crown for the first time after posting 179 and then reducing Lacock from 75-0 to 120 all out.
Sam Gillott and Stu ‘Tom’ Cruse top scored with 40-plus scores for Shrewton, while James Cash (4), Chris Brewer (3) and Will Harries (2) caused the Lacock collapse.
* The draw for the opening national round of the Village Cup will be announced here this weekend.
