Champions St Cross Symondians have given their forthcoming ECB Southern Premier League title defence a further boost by signing Max Curtis, a top order batsman, from West of England Premier League champions Clevedon.
Curtis, who will make his competitive debut for St Cross in this Saturday’s SPD opener against the Hampshire Academy at the Green Jackets Ground (12.30), scored 849 runs in Clevedon’s WEPL title triumph last season.
He has moved to the area to pursue his career in physiotherapy in Southampton.
Deflecting on Curtis’s departure Clevedon captain, Jake Lintott (who has played a T20 game for Hampshire) said: "Max is going to be sorely missed by us. From a cricketing perspective, he has shown a huge amount of dedication to both his training and his drive to get better.
"Much of our success over the last couple of season has been down to Max’s ability to face a lot of deliveries at the top of the order. He’s an exceptional fielder and bowled plenty of useful overs for us.
“He leaves with our best wishes – St Cross are extremely fortunate to sign such a player.”
* St Cross Symondians have also signed South African pace bowler Marvin Williams, from the Cape Town club Claremont.
