Hampshire Academy all-rounder Scott Currie has been selected to play for England in the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa.
The 18-year old Poole-based prospect, who recently signed a rookie contract with Hampshire, is named in a 15-man England squad which will face the West Indies (January 20), Australia (January 23) and Nigeria (January 25 2020), all in the diamond mining centre of Kimberley.
Currie has just returned from a pre-World Cup Tri-Series tournament in Antigua, where he played key roles in England wins over the West Indies and Sri Lanka. His unbeaten 22 in a half-century ninth wicket stand set up an eventual 29-run win over the West Indies, while in a later match Currie took three late Sri Lanka wickets as England went on to beat the eventual tournament winners in their last 'qualifying' match.
