BASHLEY (Rydal) showed no mercy to needy neighbours New Milton – crushing them by 10 wickets in one of the earliest finishes in ECB Southern Premier League history.
All-rounder Josh Digby played a pivotal role in New Milton’s downfall at the BCG, claiming four wickets in as many balls as they folded for a paltry 61.
Digby (37) and opening partner Neil Thurgood (25) then took just 10.4 overs to knock off the required runs with the contest over before 1.30pm.
Spin pair Digby (5-21) and Ross Grierson (2-21) had New Milton struggling for runs as they laboured during the early stages.
And with James Adams, Raff Hussey and Lee Beck already back in the hutch, they were joined by James Haggaty following a careless run-out as Milton slumped to 45-4. After Ryan Beck and Campbell Golding had perished at the respective hands of Simon Watkins (1-5) and Tim Taylor (1-14), Digby tore through the lower order.
He snapped up Josh Arnold, George Watts, Oliver Wilmore and Nick Gargaro in successive deliveries as New Milton lost their last four wickets for the addition of no runs. Opener Tom Arnold (32) was left stranded and could only look on from the non-striker’s end as his close pal Digby did all the damage.
