A 13-run defeat by Fawley has all but mathematically sentenced Hursley Park to an immediate period of life in the Hampshire League.
They go into their last three games cast 39 points adrift at the bottom of Southern League Division 3 and with little hope of survival.
A century by New Zealander Matt Brown, whose 101 contained a six and ten fours, underpinned Fawley’s 213-8 at Holbury.
Nick Turner, with 3-54 and top score of 64, made a brave effort to stave off the inevitable for Hursley, who dropped to 99-5 before being bowled out for 200, Adam Freeman taking 6-24.
Leaders Basingstoke & North Hants and Bashley (Rydal) II both lost, leaving second placed Waterlooville six points behind the Bountymen, who lost to strugglers Alton II.
They finished 25 runs adrift chasing down Alton’s 212 and now face a daunting trip to Bashley (Rydal) on Saturday – the New Forest club needing to win to keep their own promotion hopes alive.
The Ville defended 167-8 (Max Goddard 54) and bowled Bashley out for 117 to win by 50 runs.
Gosport Borough bounced back from the previous week’s debacle at Fair Oak (where they lost by nine wickets) to trim Havant by 14 runs.
