There’s only two points separating the three Division 3 sides battling to avoid joining Hursley Park in the Hampshire League next season.
Before start of play in round 16, Fair Oak and Fawley had 151 points on the board, with Alton II two behind on 149.
All three have been putting win points on the board recently, with Alton – County Division 1 champions last summer – underlining their tremendous fighting spirit by toppling the leaders Basingstoke & North Hants last week.
They had previously beaten Hursley Park, Havant and Fawley.
The oilmen have a particularly difficult run-in, with back-to-back games against Waterlooville and Basingstoke before finishing against Gosport Borough. Fawley’s only recent win came when they beat Fair Oak by two wickets – having bowled their visitors out for 48 !
