Dorset skipper Luke Webb marked his Bournemouth return with a half-century as the Lions cruised to a seven-wicket win over Corsham in their opening pre-season warm-up at Chapel Gate.
Sporting a rather fierce DIY haircut, Webb hit a breezy 58 while Adam Davies made 38 not out after Corsham had been dismissed for 172, left-arm spinner Robbie Pack catching the eye with a 4-17 return.
Webb spent the truncated 2020 pandemic season with Chesham.
Oli Breckon, Dan Conway and Ed Denham shared the other six wickets for Bournemouth, who visit Dorchester this Saturday ahead of a demanding ECB Southern Premier League opener at 2018 champions St Cross Symondians in Winchester on May 1.
With Denham, Jamie Price and Webb all returning to the fold and spin all-rounder Oli Shrubsole switching from New Milton, Bournemouth look to have far greater depth this season. Alex Nippard has, though, rejoined Parley after helping Bournemouth reach last season's Southern League Cup final.
“To be frank, I’m not relishing the first selection committee,” confessed Lions skipper Chris Park. “Competition for places is going to be fierce.”
The talented Jonny Coombs will continue to captain Bournemouth seconds, who are back in Hampshire League Division 1 this season.
