New Milton suffered their heaviest ever ECB Southern Premier League defeat when title holders Havant ran up a towering 331-3 before crushing them by a thumping 173 run margin.
Havant openers Stuart Ransley, pictured, (143) and Peter Hopson (129) made light of skipper Ryan Beck’s decision to field first – the pair posting a club record 243 opening stand as the Green & Golds toiled in the sweltering heat.
New Milton used nine bowlers in an unsuccessful attempt to quell the runs, the Havant openers hitting two sixes and 36 fours between them.
Tom Arnold (40) eased New Milton’s reply to 100-2, but the last eight wickets fell for 60 runs, six of them to left-arm spinner Graham Burns (6-47).
