St Cross Symondians seconds may have missed out on promotion from Southern Premier League Division 2 by six points from runners-up Rowledge.
But the season has been an outstanding individual success for Matt Perry-Lewis and wicketkeeper Robbie Hadfield.
Perry-Lewis snared the SPL2 bowling award with a 5-50 return in the two-wicket win over Paultons, achieved with five balls to spare.
And Hadfield emerged leading gloveman, with 23 victims, 15 catches and eight stumpings.
The pair played pivotal roles as Symondians twice clawed their way back after periods of Paultons' dominance.
They were rattling along at 140-0 - Cameron Grierson (79) and Robbie Pike (56) - when Perry-Lewis came on to bowl.
His five-wicket haul took his season's tally to 35, two more than Jeremy Frith, his old Sparsholt adversary. Hadfield had a hand (and a glove) in two dismissals.
Paultons may have been disappointed with their 224-8, but it presented St Cross with a serrious challenge when Tony Richman struck twice in three balls and the Winchester team sagged to 18-3.
Dann Lunn (27) an Graham Barrett (29) began the recovery which culminated in Hadfield making his highest SPL sore of 93 not out (eight fours and three sixes) and taking his season's aggregate past the 400-mark, no mean feat for a player who seldom bats in the top five.
Hadfield certainly had to do his stuff after St Cross had slipped to 156-8, but he found a reliable late order partner in Ed Hands (19 not out).
Together they added an unbroken 70 for the ninth wicket to get the hosts across the line.
Basingstoke & North Hants II claimed fourth place after beating Waterlooville (90) on a Rowlands Avenue turner.
Rakitha Perera took 6-17 for Basingstoke, who slumped to 23-3 before Richard Vinn (32 not out) took the situation in hand.
