Ventnor raised Adam Hose is banging loudly on the door for a potential LV= County Championship debut for Somerset in the last two matches of the season.
The 22-year old islander dropped a massive hint to Somerset Director of Cricket Matthew Maynard with a career-best double century against Gloucestershire seconds this week.
His best-yet 222 was his fourth treble figure score in Somerset's colours, having previous made 141 and 110 against Surrey, and 117 in an earlier game with Gloucestershire.
Hose, who played junior age group cricket for Hampshire, has already made eight Royal London Cup appearances for Somerset this season, hitting 46 against Worcestershire and 41 v Durham.
He made his Somerset debut in the twenty20 at the Ageas Bowl and last weekend helped High Wycombe, his adopted club side, win the ECB Home Counties Premier League title.
Hose is hopeful of playing against either Sussex at Hove on Monday or, more likely, in Somerset's final match against Warwickshire at Taunton the following week.
