It’s a two-way shoot-out between St Cross Symondians all-rounder Harry Came and South Wilts’ pace bowling prospect Luke Evans for the Southern Premier League’s prestigious Young Cricketer award.
The pair have both enjoyed successful individual seasons, with Came (above) ending his 579-run summer with an unbeaten and match winning 112 at St Cross chased down 283-8 to beat South Wilts by four wickets off the penultimate ball.
Ironically, Came’s other century this season came against South Wilts – and Evans – when he made 106 in a defeat at Bemerton.
Evans, below, captured 35 wickets for South Wilts this season, finishing just one behind Lymington all-rounder Matt Metcalfe, who carried off the Premier Division bowling award once again.
He celebrated a maiden five-wicket return (5-20) against New Milton and twice enjoyed four-wicket hauls against Bashley (Rydal) and 4-35 in the New Milton return game.
