South Wilts are through to the zone semi-finals of the ECB Royal London national club championship – without having to bowl a ball in anger.
This Sunday’s second round opponents, Fawley have conceded the tie due to a lack of players, giving South Wilts a free ride into round three, where they will host either Ventnor or Burridge at Bemerton on May 22.
Ironically, Fawley had ‘beaten’ Dorchester in the opening round after the toss of a coin, the tie having twice been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
There are three local ECB ties on Sunday: Bournemouth v Lymington (Chapel Gate 2), Havant v Bournemouth, Ventnor v Burridge.
