Bournemouth opener Nick Park and Sarisbury Athletic captain Matt Journeaux hit centuries as their respective sides successfully cleared the first round hurdle in the ECB Royal London national club championship.
Park, pictured left, celebrated his return to Bournemouth after a stint at New Milton with 101 in the 156-run thrashing of Ventnor, while Journeaux led from the front as Sarisbury brushed aside Totton & Eling.
Basingstoke & North Hants and South Wilts are also through to next month’s second round, but Portsmouth fell at the first, losing to Surrey-based Normandy.
Park batted for all but one ball of Bournemouth’s 258-4 (Ben Brigden 32) and, late in the innings, featured in a lively century stand with former Wimborne & Colehill left-arm all-rounder Simon Woodruff, who hit a six and nine fours in a punchy 59.
University student Chris Bolton (4-32) caught the eye with the new ball, but with only a handful of first teamers on show, Ventnor were easy pickings.
Only skipper Rob Snell (31) lasted long before Dom Clutterbuck (3-15) and Jake Hurley (3-8) ended resistance at 102 all out.   Bournemouth visit Burridge in round two on May 14.
Matt Journeaux, who led Sarisbury Athletic to their recent ECB indoor sixes success at Lords, peppered 23 fours as he cracked 120 in his side’s 71-run win over Totton & Eling at Allotment Road.
He dominated Sarisbury’s 251-9 (Josh Hill 30), with Kieran Geyle taking 3-18.
Totton’s reply never got underway and only Oli Perin (25) scored above 20 in the 180-run response, Shayne Freemantle taking 3-29.
Sarisbury’s reward is a daunting second round trip to South Wilts, who took a mere 28 overs to breeze past Potterne’s 187, which was subsequently enhanced to 205 after the former Southern Premier League champions had suffered an 18-run slow over-rate penalty.
Former Hampshire 2nd XI all-rounder Basil Akram (36) top scored for the ECB West of England Premier League hosts, with Matt Burton taking 3-48.
Ben Draper (46), pictured, and Joe Cranch (35) got South Wilts off to a flier before former Scotland U19 cricketer Alex Baum made 34 on debut.
Three sixes and four boundaries in an 18-ball 41 not out by James Hayward swept South Wilts to a six-wicket victory.
An unbeaten half-century by Dean Nurse (59) and David Griffiths (27) eased Basingstoke & North Hants to a five-wicket win over Sussex Premier League outfit Middleton at May’s Bounty.
Martyn James (3-21) got among the visitors' wickets with the new ball before Sean Heather (94) and Jamie Thompson (76) lifted Middleton from 50-3 to 236-5.
But Basingstoke batted consistently down the order with Will Phillips (39), Joe Oates (33) and Chris Oliver (26) all making starts.
Nurses’s 59 not out got Basingstoke home with four overs to spare.
The Bountymen go to Havant on May 14, while Normandy’s reward for knocking out Portsmouth is a trip to nearby Guildford.  Only Jack Marston (61) made any impact as Portsmouth ground to 176-8 after Normandy had posted 253-7 (Oli Batchelor 111).
