South Wilts and St Cross Symondians have won the Wiltshire and Hampshire county groups to proceed to the play-off phase of the ECB Under-15 club championships.
South Wilts youngsters pictured after beating Winsley by eight wickets at Bemerton to become Wiltshire Under-15 champions and claim a home ECB Cup play-off tie against the Somerset winners.
They followed up impressive performances in the earlier rounds against Steeple Langford (nine wickets), Goatacre (82 runs) and Corsham (nine wickets) to restrict Winsley to 117-8 and polish off the runs with 13 balls to spare, William Welsh (52 retired) hitting his second fifty of the competition.
George Gairdner hit 26, with Thomas Whiting following up a three-wicket return with the ball to make an unbeaten 21.

St Cross Symondians beat Totton & Eling by 14 runs, the Hampshire final being run on a nine-a-side 100-ball basis. An unbeaten 45 by Jack Birch underpinned a St Cross total of 87, Freddie Banks returning amazing figures of five wickets for six runs. Ben Holbrook took 3-13. Max Connolly (27 ret) top scored in Totton's 75-5, Jack Roberts taking 3-15. St Cross Symondians will host the winners of tonight's (Friday) Dorset county final between Hamworthy and Wimborne on Sunday July 3. * Hampshire's Joe Weatherley presented the HCB U15 Cup to St Cross Symondians, whom he skippered in this same competition a year or two ago. |
