Hampshire Academy all-rounder Scott Currie rescued England Under-19s with the bat and set up a 29-run victory over the West Indies in the second Tri-Series International in Antigua on Sunday.
England were reeling at 114-8 and facing a second consecutive defeat by their Caribbean hosts when Currie joined Warwickshire left-hander Dan Mousley (48) in a ninth-wicket partnership which turned the match.
The pair added a precious 55, with Currie [left] making an unbeaten 22 off 25 balls on his Under-19 International debut as England rallied to post 169.
Currie, who is expected to join ECB Southern Premier League champions Bashley (Rydal) next season, took the new ball but only managed to bowl four wicketless overs for 22 runs as the West Indies eased themselves back in the box seat at 74-2.
But their last eight wickets fell for only 66 runs. The West Indies were all out for 140, leaving England 29-run winners.
England’s next match is against Sri Lanka at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Wednesday.
