Ryan Higgins, who cut his teeth in local Southern Premier League cricket with Bashley (Rydal), sank Hampshire with a personal best 5-13 return off 19 balls playing for Middlesex in the NatWest T20 Blast at the Ageas Bowl.
He removed Liam Dawson, Shahid Afridi, Joe Weatherley, Ryan McLaren and Brad Wheal in an amazing spell which saw Hampshire crash from 111-5 to 138 all out in reply the Middlesex total of 181-6.
Middlesex are managed by former Bournemouth skipper Richard Scott and have qualified for the quarter-finals for the first time in a decade.
Zimbabwean born Higgins, meanwhile, played for Bashley for two seasons under Richard Morris and now plays his club cricket for Richmond in the Middlesex Premier League.
