Retired ECB Southern Premier League chairman David Ridley has been appointed Senior Club Cricket manager of Bashley (Rydal).
His job description entails becoming the focal point of all Bashley cricket matters and being responsible for player recruitment, discipline, selection, communication with all players and liaising with the junior section.
Mr Ridley’s appointment, along with that of Steve Wilson as Club Coach, is designed to allow the captains (Michael Porter and Ross Grierson) to concentrate on leading the players on the field, to make selection as independent, consistent and balanced as possible and to spread the overall workload.
“The Management Committee are delighted that we have been able to secure the services of such an experienced and successful individual for this post,” said Bashley chairman John Neal.
“David’s massive experience as a player and in league management, will be invaluable in progressing the club forward.
Reflecting on his latest role, Mr Ridley said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge at Bashley and to helping all of the club sides and players progress.
“The club has fantastic facilities and I hope I can help with organisation so that it can achieve on-field success at all levels in the future.”
Mr Ridley, who stepped down as Premier League chairman last November after four years at the helm, has his two sons Simon and Chris playing at Bashley.
