Former Gosport Borough cricketer Chris Lynn's batting fireworks have earned him a whopping AUD1.86 million after he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 Indian Premier League auction.
Lynn was the highest-paid Australian in the player auction, ahead of Mitchell Starc ($1.8 million to KKR), and ex-South Wilts all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was bought by Ricky Ponting's Delhi Daredevils for $1.75 million.
Lynn played Southern Premier League Division 3 cricket for Gosport Borough in 2008 as a raw 18-year old, scoring 754 runs for the Privett Park club. Ironically, he didn't win the SPL3 batting award that season. Hartley Wintney's fellow Aussie Adam Bull, with 848 runs, beat him to it.
