Sufian Munir played the star role as Fawley turned the tables on Bashley (Rydal) to win the New Forest CA President’s Cup for the first time since the Dave Streather dominated final of 2010.
Munir hit the ball out of the BCG three times as he top scored with 42 in Fawley’s 116-7, the oilmen having lost two wickets for three runs before Andy Parratt (29) steadied the listing tanker.
Cup holders Bashley appeared to be cruising the 18-over a side final when openers Jacob Graham (32) and Rhodes Franklin (26) shared a 62-run start in eight, but Fawley applied the squeeze and the run rate slackened.
By the 14th over Bashley had slipped to 89-4 and after consecutive ball run outs in the 15th, Bash needed 25 off 18 balls, then 17 from the final two overs. Perfect timing then for Munir to strike again with a 4-22 return which left Bashley high and dry six runs adrift at 110-9.
