Fawley were left kicking themselves after falling just four short of Gosport Borough’s 266-5 after a frantic Waterside run chase.
They were odds-on favourites after Andy Parratt (82) and Sufyan Munir (66) had eased them to 202-2 (Callum Earl 45).
But, needing 65 runs off the last 15 overs with eight wickets in hand at windswept Holbury, Fawley blew it and finished up four-run losers at 262-7.
Earlier, Tom Larner underpinned Gosport’s 266-5 with a maiden 134.
Last season’s SPL3 leading batsman, Larner hit 19 fours and a six in his career-best knock, sharing a century stand with Kiwi teenager Liam Campbell (50).
The result was a bitter blow to Fawley’s Southern Premier League Division 3 survival hopes, the oilmen lagging three points behind Havant II in second from bottom position.
Lymington II had a potential win at Portsmouth & Southsea in their sights when Isle of Wight pair Tommy Barton (52) and Dan Cox (40) took them to 90-1 chasing their hosts 167-8 (Cox 4-49).
But Kieran Dunstan (3-17) triggered a collapse which saw five Lymington wickets fall for 12 runs.
Ben Attrill (24) tried to revive the innings, but Lymington were bowled out for 153.
Jack Davies (72) top scored in Southsea’s first home win of the season at St James’s Park.
The New Forest pair lie behind Havant II in the relegation mix – South Wilts retaining third place in the log with a 110-run victory over the third from bottom side at the Park.
Owain Phillips (47), Rob Pittman (47) and Alex Lloyd (46) all narrowly missed out on fifties as SW posted 252-7, Ben Fisher hitting a late 31 not out. Havant were never at the races and dipped to 142 all out, Matt Burton taking 3-27.
