Bashley (Rydal) have a potentially fascinating first round draw in the ECB Royal London club championship – with Hampshire League Division 2 side Ferndown Wayfarers set to make the short trip to the BCG on Sunday 1 May.
It’s the first time Ferndown have entered the national cup and they’ll relish pitting themselves against one of the Premier League’s leading sides.
Premier Division champions South Wilts get an opening round bye, but will play Lansdown at Bemerton in round two on May 15.
Similarly, St Cross Symondians sit the first round out, but will receive either Bridgwater or Cardiff-based South East Wales Division 1 winners Pentrych at the Green Jackets on May 15.
In the other first round ties, Havant host Littlehampton, Clapham & Patching, Hook & Newnham Basics entertain Berkshire League side Shinfield, while Portsmouth and Waterlooville face testing away days.
Portsmouth travel up the A3 to the delightful Normandy club, with the Ville facing awesome ECB Home Counties Premier Division opposition in Datchet, who include former St Cross Symondians’ cricketer Billy Mead in their ranks.
