FINCH GROUP GUY JEWELL & CYRIL THOMPSON CUP DRAWS

THE draws for the semi-finals of the May’s Bounty based Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup and Cyril Thompson Trophy quarter-finals have been made.
In the cup semis, Hook and Newnham Basics A will play the winners of the Hartley Wintney and Rotherfield Park, which is scheduled for Monday, July 26, writes Graham Merry.
Odiham & Greywell will also have to wait to see who they face being the victors of the Hook B and Basingstoke and North Hants showdown, which is on Thursday evening – if it ever stops raining ! 
The draw for the final eight of the Cyril Thompson Trophy will see Ashford Hill or Oakley face Overton or Herriard. Ramsdell will meet Yateley and Binsted or Stratfield Turgis will play either Chawton or Aldermaston Rugby. The final last eight game being between Kingsclere and Andover.
In the latest results from the Trophy, Ramsdell enjoyed a superb 53-run win over Whitchurch, the winners batted first in the contest scoring 163-5 from their 16 overs.  Luca Wade led the way with the bat scoring an excellent 71, well supported by Sam Holbrook (55). Jim Hayward was the pick of the bowlers with 3-14.
In reply, despite an unbeaten 55 from Steve Williams, Whitchurch only reached 110-3 with Harry Griffin also scoring 23. Dave Monger 2-19 was the top Ramsdell bowler.
Yateley also made the quarter-finals beating St Mary’s by nine wickets.  Stephen Reid top scored for St Mary’s with 15 in their 98-8 from 16 overs, as James Harvey took 4-20.  In reply, Yateley made 99-1 thanks to Scott Gore 35 and Chris Petts 33 not out 
There are two Trophy games next week, on Monday July 12 Ashford Hill are in action against Oakley, while on Thursday, July 15 Overton face Herriard.
