Ben Fisher celebrated his second Southern Premier Division 1 five-wicket haul of the season after wrecking Sparsholt's top order at the Norman Edwards Ground. He finished with figures of 5-34 to lay the foundations for Calmore Sports' eventual four-wicket victory.
Fresh from representing Oxford University in the recent Varsity Match against Cambridge at the Parks and operating alongside the miserly Steve Wright (who conceded only 15 runs off his ten overs), Fisher whipped out Sparsholt youngsters Will Berrill, Oli and Josh to leave Sparsholt 33-3.
Josh May (52), Dan Sumner (21) and Callum Doran (34) gave the Sparsholt innings some substance, but Liam Carty (3-34) continued to chip away with wickets. Dave Banks (23) and Tom Ley (23*) added useful runs before Fisher returned to take two more wickets and leave the Winchester side 181 all out.
Man of the moment Ben Johns drove Calmore home, but saw a few team-mates depart before the Village Cup holders got a real grip. Sam Moss and Shawn Johnson got ducks as Calmore reached 63-3.
Johns, though, remained unmoved, easing his way to 15-four 99 not out which, supported by Fisher (27) and Max Bailey (25), completed the formalities with ten overs to spare. Johns is pictured (by Martin Fisher) hitting one of his 15 fours.

The defeat leaves Sparsholt bottom, Liphook & Ripsley easing themselves off ground zero with a seven-wicket over New Milton, who are currently 45 points above them in the log.
Milton, who should just about have sufficient points to stay up, were on the back foot after new ball strikes by Charles Janczur (2-25) and were dismissed for 108, Joe Randall taking 4-21 and Ryan Covey (3-21).
Liphook lost three quick wickets after Henry Amis (33)and Ryan Covey (26) had taken them to 63-1, but the outcome was never in doubt.
