Totton & Eling boast the only unbeaten record in the entire British Gas Southern League after celebrating a fifth successive win at the expense of local rivals Paultons, who fought back hard before conceding a four-wicket defeat at Southern Gardens.
The Eels chased down 182 to win, losing three late wickets for only two runs with the winning tape in sight.
Mark Mbofana (2-20) struck two early blows leaving Paultons 8-2, but Simon Ennew (41), aided by middle-order support from Josh Metcalfe (19), James Bills (23) and Nathan Feltham (25) improved the situation.
But with Paultons still wobbling at 1260-7, it needed some forceful strikes from Tony Richman (33 not out) to get a competitive 182 on the board.
Provided with a 57-run platform by Sam Bracey (25) and James Taylor (25), Totton batted consistently down the order.
Oli Perrin (29) pushed things along, but Mbofana (40) and Kieran Geyle (28 not out) almost got Totton home before those late wickets fell.
