Lymington butchered 35 runs off the opening four overs against Burridge – but then suffered a massive collapse, losing seven wickets for 23 runs !
They were eventually bowled out for 85 and beaten by four wickets – the defeat ending their already fading prospects of landing the ECB British Gas Southern Premier Division title.
Dan Stancliffe did the damage with a spell of 5-22, including Hampshire NatWest T20 Blast star Calvin Dickinson for a third ball duck.
Ben Rogers (20) and Terry Crabb (11) laid siege to the Burridge new-ball attack, but once Stancliffe had the New Zealander caught by Portsmouth Grammar School’s Alex Willoughby, they fell apart.
Lymington lost two wickets at 40, two more at 47, and the sixth and seventh at 52 and 58, respectively. Dan Hewitt took 2-42.
Willoughby’s second catch – to remove Richard Lock – which gave Stancliffe his nap hand haul, was of the highest quality.
Felix Ambrose and Oli Calcott temporarily halted the slide, but with Lee Savident taking two cheap wickets with his off-spin, Lymington sank to 85 all out.
Matt Metcalfe (2-42) accounted for both Burridge openers, but his spell was expensive in the context of the game.
Burridge contrived to lose six wickets before (at 50-4) Brighton Mugochi emerged from the pavilion to hit a match clinching 31 not out, including four fours and a six. Burridge were done and dusted in only 18 overs.
