Portsmouth’s favourite Aussie cricketer Fraser Hay has chalked up his third century of the season in Western Australia Premier cricket and may not be that far away from a State call-up.
His former Melville team-mate Adam Voges, who spent an embryo season playing Southern League cricket for Bournemouth before going on to make 20 Test appearances for Australia, is the chief WA coach and has been carefully monitoring Hay’s progress.
Hay, who spent four successful seasons playing at St Helen’s on Southsea seafront, continues to be in the batting form of his life playing for Gosnells, following previous hundreds against South Perth and Wanneroo with 103 off the Mount Lawley attack this past weekend.
Alas, Hay’s third century in six knocks, which lifted his total run haul to 449, was in a losing cause, Mount Lawley having posted a towering 397-4 on the first day. Gosnells made 295-6 in their 90 overs, Hay striking ten boundaries in his 103.
Following graduation from the University of Western Australia, Hay is working as an accountant, so has plenty of opportunity to keep a log of his growing run tally.
