The England & Wales Cricket Board has announced that their new guidelines will allow for competitive 11-a-side cricket, with no mandated format in terms of overs, although there will be additional adaptations to account for hygiene and social distancing.
The ECB has now communicated their cricket-specific guidance to players, see separate article.
It means Bashley (Rydal), Calmore Sports, Fair Oak, Hook & Newnham Basics, New Milton, Portsmouth, Ryde, Sarisbury Athletic, South Wilts, Sparsholt and St Cross Symondians can all play meaningful intra-club games on their respective home grounds on Saturday (July 11), subject to ECB Covid-19 stipulations.
Broadstone are due to entertain Bournemouth and Longparish entertain Compton & Chandler's Ford. On the Isle of Wight, Shanklin play Newport at Westhill on Saturday, with the club's second team visiting St Helen's. Shanklin host Island Bakeries on Sunday (that's the teas sorted then ...).
At all grounds, spectators will watch at their own liability and be expected to maintain social distancing in line with government guidelines.
On Sunday (11am), South Wilts will host a T20 double banker against Wiltshire at Bemerton, starting at 11 o'clock. The Salisbury & South Wilts Sports Club bar will be open subject to guidelines being met. Team details will be announced in the next day or so.
