The umpiring fraternity, particularly those in the Winchester & District, will be saddened to learn of the recent passing of George Wilby, aged 94 years.
George was a founder member of the Hampshire ACO and served as its Treasurer between 2008-2012.
A long term member at Tichborne Park, George was a long-standing cricketer and umpire in Hampshire, who put in more than his fair share of work to support the sport at both club and officials level, especially with young people.
He umpired games at Winchester College for many years, as well as the Hampshire Hogs and the Hoggets.
His funeral is at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday 10th July at St Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.
