Parley and Bournemouth raised Gloucestershire left-arm pace bowler David Payne returned to his roots as guest of the Dorset Cricket Society.
David, who hails from Lytchett Minster, cut his teeth in Dorset cricket, initially as a 12-year old, representing the county at U13 and U15 level. He was a major player in Parley's magnificent ECB U15 national cup triumph in 2006 before joining Bournemouth, who won the Southern Premier League title and then the ECB Cockspur T20 Cup in successive years. He took almost 50 wickets for the Lions.
Payne joined Gloucestershire in 2009, played England in the 2010 ICC U19 World Cup, won an ECB 50-over Cup winners medal with the Bristol side before going on to debut for England against the Netherlands in an ODI during the Covid season. Last winter he helped Perth Scorchers win the Big Bash in Australia and enthralled a sizeable Hurn Bridge audience of his experiences in playing in a thrilling final against Brisbane Heat in front of 50,000 screaming orange shirted Aussies at the Optus Stadium.
Guests are always welcome at the Thursday DCS meetings, with former Essex & England all-rounder Derek Pringle speaking on November 9. Ample car parking is available at Christchurch FC.
