Left-armer Tom Grant bowled South Wilts to an emphatic 122-run victory over Lymington with his maiden five-wicket return for the Bemerton club.
He took 5-29 in 9.2 overs as Lymington plunged from 57-2 to 90 all out after South Wilts had recovered themselves to total 212-9, having been in trouble at 139-7.
Grant began his match winning spell by bowling Ryan Scott (31) and proceeded to rip through the Lymington middle and late order, the last five wickets falling for nine runs, six of them coming in one hit by tail-ender Asad Abbas.
Tom Lewis (2-6), who caught and bowled Lymington top scorer Tom Crabb (37) to trigger the collapse, and Matt Burton (3-41), who dismissed both the hosts openers, shared four of the other scalps.
Earlier, South Wilts began confidently through James Degg, whose 66 contained 11 fours, but the all too regular collapse followed with 96-1 becoming 114-5 and later 139-7 – Oxford University all-rounder Josh Royan taking 3-16 – before an eighth-wicket rescue.
Teenager Matt Falconer (41), called up when Mo Rizvi decided to move to play for Slough in the Home Counties Premier League, and Grant (20) added 44 precious runs to lift South Wilts to 212-9.
