GOSPORT MAY NOT BE TOO-GOOD AGAINST P & S

14/8/2020

Portsmouth & Southsea are set to play only their second match in five weeks in the Southern Premier League Cup – their fixture schedule so far having been affected by the weather and blank dates.
They won their only match – by a thumping 202-run margin against Purbrook on August 1 – and, with Tom Benfield returning, send a full strength side into the field against Gosport Borough at St James’s Park.
Gosport bounced back from their opening day defeat at Hambledon with a Mark Toogood inspired win over Purbrook last week – but must make do without the former Royal Navy and United Services all-rounder for the cross-Harbour clash.
Portsmouth & Southsea: Davies, M Benfield, Kanavan, Bollom, T Benfield, Davidson, Saunders, Peach, Wiley, Turrell, Dunstan.
Gosport Borough: L Harrop, O Creal, J Harris, C Pennicott, C Creal, T Larner, J Williams, G Kitchin, J Richards, S Prathapasinghe, S Creal.
Liphook & Ripsley, probably P & S’s greatest threat in East 2/3, warm up for Sunday’s National Village Cup visit to Stoke Park with a trip to Tichborne Park.
Hartley Wintney are without skipper Will Kerr (thumb) for the visit to winless Purbrook.
Hartley Wintney: W Ross, A Brown, M Rudd, H Hammond, J Beckwith, D Nightingale, J Teale, A Parson, R Cootes, M Teale, D Reynaldo.
